Inspiring Stories: Zeez Sleep Pebble
The next to feature in our series of ‘Inspiring Stories’, is Anna McKay, founder of Zeez Sleep Pebble and business participant of We in Social Tech
cohort one talks about her experience of the 6 month accelerator.
“It gave us confidence to acknowledge that we have a great product”
– Anna McKay
The Zeez Sleep Pebble is a pioneering device that has been proven to be effective for insomnia. The Zeez is designed to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and sleep deeply, so that you wake up well rested and clear headed. It imitates the brain activity of a good sleeper through relaxation and four cycles of deep sleep, gently calming your mind and reinforcing natural brain patterns, thereby coaxing you out of bad sleep patterns into good ones.
Why Join the Accelerator
Loneliness and being alone. Joining a women-led accelerator, having peers, advisors and mentors to bounce things off has helped us to make faster better decisions, and where we have made mistakes, we have agonised less. We have moved on faster and with more certainty.
Successes of the Business so far
In the few months we have been shortlisted for a Design Award and are finalists for awards In the Hotel and Dementia markets. I’m proud to say we’ve been chosen to take part in the NHS innovation workshops in Manchester this September which consists of 50 plus participants made up of businesses, academic researchers and NHS organisations.
We are generating revenue and breaking-even through B2C sales, with several commercial partnerships forged. The partnership contract will take us into profit later this year which is brilliant. We have plans to work on other sleep products, some of them will be for medical use but for now we are focused on Zeez Sleep becoming a well-known household product for one of the solutions to having a good night’s sleep
Benefits of the accelerator:
The programme was well planned and the Nwes team was also wonderfully flexible in accommodating requests from participants. A good supportive mix.
Once a week there are talks on various aspects of business, from pitching to user experience which filled gaps in our knowledge and helped us realise what we didn’t know.
Excellent! Our mentors were challenging, experienced, supportive and I found that having them stretched me. I’m not a people pleaser but I really wanted to explore their suggestions and we strengthened as a result.
