#WeinSocialTech Accelerator Call 2 Opens on April 15, to support another 20 Women-led Tech Businesses for Social Good
Second Accelerator Call to attract another 20 participants will open from 15 April to 19 May 2019.
We in Social Tech has pledged to support a total of 60 ambitious women-led social tech businesses by 2020, and is inviting applications to join the programme’s second cohort.
The programme, delivered by enterprise agency Nwes and supported by Deutsche Bank through its social enterprise program Made for Good, recently started incubating its first 20 businesses in January 2019. Visit bit.ly/WiSTCohort1story for details of the first cohort.
Participants will gain access to an accelerator programme with a variety of personalised support benefits to start-up, grow or scale. As an added bonus, the accelerator is 100% free of charge, with no equity taken in return for support. The two key criteria for participation are that businesses must be at least 50% owned by women and geared towards positive social impact.
“Just 7% of people working in the tech industry are women and only 4% of VC investment into the tech sector goes to women founded companies.”
At the programme’s launch, We in Social Tech Spokesperson Ghislaine Boddington highlighted the need for this Accelerator, sharing vital statistics that show just how important it is that businesses get the support they need.
